Reflections; a collaboration of artists taking inspiration from stories and experiences of the River Tay during lockdown.

The project concept was devised by myself (Rhiannon Moore) and Dr Victoria Jupp kina PHD and required the design of the project and the successful funding application on behalf of ScrapAntics. The delivery was significantly altered by the unexpected COVID pandemic, we adapted the project and created a piece that was about connection but was also able to be seen in a safe and sympathetic manner.

Erin Farley and David Scott collated ten oral histories that explored local people’s relationship with the Tay estuary and river. These were integral to the piece and gave it a depth.

ScrapAntics commissioned artists Elaine Maher, Rhona Jack and Kate Tweddle to take these poignant recordings and create a site-specific response, culminating in a banner and spoken word piece.

The banner was hung along the side of the Discovery Ship, a focal point for people to enjoy on their walk along the river, from 19th March – 12th April 2021. The Spoken Word element was accessible as a QR Code provided at the site along with a description.
